| I keep getting a window asking for my Netscape Password! |
At some point in the past you may have told Netscape to use a Netscape password. If so, you will get a dialog box like this when you try to connect to a secure site:
If you do not remember this password, no one can reset it for you. This password is stored in the Netscape preferences on your computer. You must delete the certificate files on your computer, and then get a new certificate. To accomplish this, complete the the following steps:
- Exit Netscape
- Remove the old files
- On MS Windows
Using Windows Explorer or File Manager, go to the directory in which Netscape is installed (often C:\Program Files\Netscape\Navigator) and delete the files cert5.db, cert7.db, key.db, key3.db, and secmod.db if they exist.
- On UNIX
cd $HOME/.netscape directory rm cert* key*
- On the Macintosh
Find all of the following files which exist: Certificates 5,Certificates7, Certificates, Key Database and Key database 3in the folder System Folder:Preferences:Netscape:Security and drag them to the Trash can.
- Start up Netscape and go to E-Business Home Page
- Obtain a Qwest issued certificate
Note: To Communicator users, Communicator stores the files in a different location. Communicator has a directory for each user you set up. The key and cert files are stored in that user directory.

| I get a window that says I do not have a certificate? |
You may not have applied for a Qwest certificate.
You can use your browser to see if you have a certificate and if it was issued by Qwest.
Complete the following steps to check your certificate.
- Click the Options-Security Preferences button on your browser's tool bar.
- On the Security Preferences-General page, click the Personal Certificates tab.
- In the list of certificates, find the certificate you want to check. If you can not find it, you will need to obtain a Qwest issued certificate.
If the certificate is there, select it and then click the More Info button.
- In the View a Personal Certificate window, an example is shown below, see if it was issued by Qwest.
If it was not, you will need to obtain a Qwest issued certificate.
If it was issued by Qwest, contact the Technical Help Desk.
